This Season, Let The Wine Wrangler Do the Driving |
Many people who go wine tasting in Paso Robles don’t realize
how much wine they can consume over the course of a few hours, but it can
certainly add up over the day. A typical day of wine tasting includes visits to
4 to 5 wineries and 4-6 tastings at each. On average, a tasting room pour is 2
ounces—that means that just within a few hours, the average guest can consume
well over a bottle of wine—if not more. If you’re wine tasting on your own this
means that at any given time you could be pulled over for D.U.I.—which can have
serious consequences. By making a reservation for one of our Wine Wrangler
tours, you can sit back and enjoy a day of wine tasting without having to worry
about the unintentional consequences.
In the meantime, we’d like to dispel some common
misconceptions:
I can’t be
drunk—it was just a few tastings: Those seemingly innocent tastings can
add up to a seriously large quantity of wine. With the average pour at 2
ounces, a single stop can mean that you’ve consumed 12 ounces of wine—a
standard glass of wine is 5 ounces, so those tastings can add up quickly.
Alcohol’s effect on your body is dependent on sex and weight, but other factors
such as tiredness, overall health and mood can play an important role, too.
But I ate a big
breakfast/lunch: Food—especially fatty foods—can have a small impact on
how quickly alcohol is processed by your body, but it won’t prevent alcohol
from entering your blood stream. Simply put, drink too much and you’ll get
drunk.
I would know if I
were impaired: Alcohol impairs our judgment. Add to the mix, the
lively, fun atmosphere of the tasting room, the camaraderie of friends and
people who you meet on the way, and your ability to know that you’ve passed the
legal limit becomes blurred.
Driving while intoxicated can have serious consequences—you
could be pulled over and arrested, lose your driver’s license and have to deal
with serious fines, not to mention steep increases in insurance. And, if you’re
involved in an accident, you could face jail time.
Why put yourself or others into harm’s way. With the WineWrangler, you can spend a day wine tasting, enjoying our local wines—and
scenery—without worry, and we can promise you—you won’t be sorry in the
morning.
