Go Wine Tasting with The Wine Wrangler and Visit Ancient Peaks Winery |
Life along California’s
Central Coast is pretty spectacular, especially in the Paso Robles Wine Region where there are nearly 200 wineries to
visit and enjoy wine tasting. With The Wine Wrangler, you can go on a wine
tasting adventure any day of the week. One of our favorite wineries to take
guests wine tasting is located in the Southern Paso Robles Wine Region in Santa Margarita Ranch—Ancient
Peaks Winery.
Ancient Peaks Winery
is owned by 3 families—the Filipponis, Rossis and Wittstroms in Santa Margarita Ranch. The name Ancient Peaks came from the winery’s
location near the towering Santa Lucia
Mountains, but it also reveals the unique microclimate of the vineyards and
the complex soil so well-known that Wine & Spirits Magazine said
that it was “perhaps the most
dramatically calcareous chunk of earth in the entire state.”
Ancient Peaks Winery’s tasting room in the heart of Santa
Margarita. The winery produces 6 wines that include:
- Sauvignon Blanc: Crisp; tropical; notes of grapefruit and jasmine
- Merlot: Notes of black cherry, blackberry, plums and spice
- Cabernet Sauvignon: A wonderful tasting experience; raspberry, tobacco and oak
- Zinfandel: Classic Zinfandel; cherry, white pepper, cedar and vanilla
- Renegade: A favorite; black currant, wild raspberry and cola
- Oyster Ridge: Complex and satisfying; cherry, cassis, blueberry and black olive
And no tasting would be complete without a visit to The
Ancient Peaks Café where you can enjoy a sandwich or small plate.
