Tasting at J.Lohr
With over
four decades in the wine business Jerry Lohr Winery knows more than a thing or
two about wine-making. So much so that their Cabernets and Zinfandels have
claimed a life of their own. Founder Jerry Lohr took a chance on the Central
Coast when he purchased the vineyards at Paso Robles and the Monterey’s Arroyo Seco district.
Presently,
it is all hands on deck as his three children and reputable staff join in
making this pioneering American dream come to life.
At the
Paso Robles, a well stocked tasting room complete with engaging and
knowledgable staff awaits you. You are invited to bring a picnic lunch and some
friends to sample their wines for free. You heard me, Free! Of course, perhaps
a tip or a takeaway bottle as a 'Thank you' to show that their efforts are
genuinely appreciated.
Cabernet
Sauvignon is the star of Paso Robles grown alongside other Bordeaux and Rhone
varietals takes advantage of the reliably fifty degree sunny days and cool
nights. Not to mention that Paso Robles uniquely has no damaging rainfall
resulting in fruit harvested solely on optimal physiological ripeness. The Hill Top Cabernet Sauvignon is one favorite produced in these vineyards and one that can only be purchased by visiting their tasting room.
No
appointment is necessary to visit their charming tasting room. Why not book a tour with The Wine Wrangler and ask the guide to stop by to taste some of their great wines.
